WILL it be third time lucky for the North Devon T20 cup final when Bideford and North Devon hope to meet at Barnstaple & Pilton this Sunday?

The first attempt at playing both semi-finals and the final back in July failed due to bad weather washing out play.

Organisers had another go on Bank Holiday Sunday and fared marginally better.

North Devon overcame Westleigh by seven wickets in the first semi-final, which was played to a finish, and Bideford went through on run rate against Filleigh in a rain-stopped-play second semi-final.

Richard Wild top scored with 36 for Westleigh, who totalled 122 for six against North Devon. Andrew Loosemore (26) and opener James Starkey (25) both chipped in.

Tom Popham (2-20) and Jools Hughes (2-15) were North Devon’s main wicket-taking bowlers.

Jay Rothery (50) and Reuben Windley (43) put on 81 for the second wicket to steer North Devon within sight of victory, which was clinched with more than three overs to go.

The second-semi between Bideford and Filleigh was a low-scoring and damp affair, 

The Hayter brothers – James (30) and Julian (19) – made more headway than the rest of Bideford’s batters as Filleigh restricted them to 97 for nine in 17 overs. Frazer Boundy took four for 11 for Filleigh

Filleigh were 39 for two from 10.5 overs when the rain came.

Only one game in the North Devon League actually started, which was the cup match between Newton Tracey and visiting Lynton & Lynmouth.

Lynton & Lynmouth were 44 for one after nine overs when rain stopped play. David Brierley was 23 not out.
