WESTLEIGH beat defending champions Belstone by 63 runs to claim the North Devon League Division One title.
Bideford were still in the running going into the latest round of fixtures, but their defeat by Heathcoat ended their title hopes.
It was a two man affair at Westleigh where James Starkey (46) and Tom Poole (47)were the mainstays of their 40-over total of 192 for eight. Richard Drake (3-40) was the stand out Belstone bowler.
Tom Poole then starred with the ball with outstanding figures of five for 14, backed up by Starkey’s three for 19, which restricted the Foxes to 129 for nine.
Heathcoat prevailed by three wickets at Westward Ho! over Bideford. Julian Hayter scored his maiden NDL century (107) as Bideford racked up 270 for five. Hayter got support from Ewan Williams (44) and James Greenleaf 33.
There were a couple of wickets for Nkosana Mpofu, who then led the chase with a quickfire 84. Richard Pugsley weighed in with 70 as the visitors ran out victors. Elliot Curry took three wickets for Bideford.
First played second at Nomansland in Division Two where second-placed Victoria Park were the visitors. It was Nomansland who ran out nine-wicket winners.
The Park batted first and were bustled out for 67 in just over 28 overs. Tom Murphy (5-13) was the stand out bowler. Will White, and Ryan Bowden both took a couple.
Bowden alongside Elliot Butterfield then saw the home side to victory inside 10 overs. They were both unbeaten on 29.
Exford beat visitors Filleigh by 100 runs in the Exmoor derby. William Daughtrey with 107 helped Exford to a 40-over total of 255 for six. Jackob Schrader chipped in with 43.
Last man Owen Lloyd top scored with 49 in Filleigh’s reply after tight bowling reduced his side to 100 for nine. There were three wickets for Will Lock and Tom Barry.
Lynton & Lynmouth defeated Ilfracombe by 164 runs in a one-sided affair at the Valley of the Rocks.
Matt Fakiner top scored for Lynton with 77, and Dan Godfrey got 75, as Lynton amassed 252 for four.
Ilfracombe were dismissed for 88 in reply. Tristan Jones took three for 12, Kofi Atkinson had three for 29, and Tom Bentley two for four during the 30 overs needed to win the game.
