JULIAN Hayter plundered 83 to lead Bideford to a four-wicket win over North Devon at Westward Ho! in a North Devon League Division One match-up.

North Devon scored 238 for six with five of the top-six batters reaching double figures. Only Jack Moore, batting at seven, progressed to a significant score. Moore’s 67 came off 30 balls and featured six fours and five sixes. Jim Keates and Keith Berry both took a couple of wickets for the hosts.

Hayter led the run chase with a near run-a-ball knock against the club he plays Saturday afternoon cricket for in the Tolchards DCL. He got support from Ewan Williams, with a rapid 50, Jack Ford (25) and skipper James Greenleaf (28no). Steve Moore took three wickets for the Instow outfit.

Hatherleigh won a tight game at home against Belstone by three runs.

Hatherleigh posted an all-out total of 193,thanks mainly to skipper Adam Quick’s 66. He found support from Zak Spears (30), Henry D'alberti- Nicholson (25) and Rob Cockwill (26). Phil Dennis took three wickets for the Foxes.Jack Moore works the Bideford bowling

Belstone’s reply was dominated by Vivek Gautum with 85.However, apart from Callum Mallett’s 31, Gautum fought a lone hand. Charlie Presswell with four for 34 and Quick (3-17) saw the home side succeed.

Newton Tracey. chose to bat at Heathcoat, and were reduced to 67 for seven under pressure from some tight bowling from the home side. Daniel Pugsley (3-32) was the stand-out bowler. 

Simon Gear (73no) and Phil Seward (52) led the fightback as Newton managed to reach 198 for eight.

Heathcoat got the runs with six overs to go and four wickets to spare. Richard Pugsley top scored with 53.

Nomansland travelled to Exford in Division Two and won by two wickets to maintain their challenge for the title. 

Exford batted first and were bundled out for 107. John Clegg top scored with 32 for Exford. Jacob Cole, and Thomas Murphy both took three wickets for the visitors.

Nomansland got the runs for the loss of eight wickets. Six batters got double figures, in the face of some tight bowling from the home side. Jakob Schrader (3-25) had the stand out figures

Victoria Park, kept up the pressure at the top of the table, with a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Lynton & Lynmouth at the Valley of the Rocks.

Hatherleigh were unable to raise a second team to play Barnstaple & Pilton in Division Three.

Ilfracombe beat Braunton in a rain-affected match in the League Cup at Brimlands. Braunton were dismissed for 93. thanks to three wickets each for A Bambridge and Nathan Challacombe. Super veteran Kevin Clarke, chipped in with a couple.

Ilfracombe reached their revised target in 14.5 overs for the loss of three wickets. Richard Murray top scored with an unbeaten 43.

Filleigh played Holsworthy in the League Cup at Deer Park. Holsworthy scored 124 all out. Herschelle Poggenpoel top scored with 30. Charlie Cullen took three wickets for the home side.

Filleigh were dismissed for 104, to lose by 20 runs. Jas Kalsi scored 50 for Filleigh, and there was three wickets for Adam Lovejoy.
