Harry Everett spoke to four individuals, one from each of the four sides who made up the Corinthian Cup (sponsored by Ivor Dewdney), T20 finals day which was held at Cornwood CC on Sunday, August 6
Jason Parr (Cullompton CC all-rounder): Having got to finals day twice before and lost, it really was third time lucky for us. Trevor’s bowling has got better and better as the season has gone on – and now he is bowling a fuller length and getting the rewards. Collectively, we bowled well as a group and backed-up the start Trevor gave us in that great first over, when he took out three of Stoke’s top batters. We knew if we batted sensibly we would win it. Dan King and my brother (Brendon) put on 60-odd for the second wicket and that won us the game. We had plenty to celebrate after the game and there would have been a few sore heads at work on Monday morning.
Abhishek Anand (Stoke Gabriel wicketkeeper and number three): “The disappointment of losing the finals for the second consecutive time is tough.This match wasn’t ours, especially with the blow of losing three wickets in the opening over. Despite shining throughout the season, our unity and self-belief were evident in the semi-final win against Heathcoat. While we’re left with much to prove, we’re determined to regroup and maintain our top position as the division champions. A special thanks to Cornwood for their hospitality-made the day memorable."

Robbie Broomhead (Runs and wickets for Heathcoat 2nd XI): “Sadly, we came off second in a tight semi-final that went right down to the wire. On a slow wicket both teams struggled to score, with the game being tight throughout. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get over the line. We look forward to the rest of the season now. Thanks to Cornwood for the hospitality and a great day.”
Sam O’Nyons (Ottery St. Mary CC T20 captain): “We were pleased to get through to finals day, having restarted our regular Twenty20 mid-week team this season. We got close to getting through our semi-final against Cullompton, but lost in the last over of this game. We should be stronger next year. We enjoyed the day and the hospitality from Cornwood CC.”
