NORTH Devon defeated Heathcoat by 55 runs at Instow in a North Devon League run feast.

North Devon scored 395 for the loss of six wickets in a match that produced 735 runs. Jay Rothery started off with a quickfire 79, then Abishek and Jack Moore shared a near 200 partnership for the fifth wicket. 

Batra made 155 – 12 fours, nine sixes, 84 balls – and Moore made 89 in a stand that produced 195 runs. Nkosana Mpofu took three for 54 for the visitors.

Heathcoat gave it a go in reply, aided by North Devon bowling 60 wides!. Opener Jonny Chilcott matched that with 60 off the bat. Harvey Cronkshaw top scored with 76 as Heathcoat reached 340 for seven in their 40 overs. Oscar Meech took three for 70.

Newton Tracey prevailed by just eight runs against visiting Bideford.

Newton amassed 196 for nine in their 40 overs. Oliver Symons led the scoring with 51, and there were contributions throughout the card, none greater than skipper Simon Gears' rumbustious 33. Jack Ford (4-44) was the pick of the Bideford bowlers.

Julian Hayter led the chase with 74, and got support from veteran James Ford (35). However, tight bowling from the Newton bowlers, saw the home side to victory. Gears' figures of one for 14 from eight overs were significant.

Westleigh’s title challenge was boosted by Hatherleigh's inability to raise a side.

Nomansland won by 133-runs at the end of a one-sided Division Two encounter at Ilfracombe.

Greg Cole led from the front for the visitors, who were invite to bat first, with 116. He was supported by Ed Beoggio (62) towards an all-out total of 229. Nathan Challacombe (4-29) was the star Ilfracombe bowler.

Ilfracombe's run chase never really got going, the only significant score in their total of 96 all out was Nathan Townsend's 39. 

Wickets were shared around for Nomansland. The standout figures were three for 17 for Henry Strong.

Barnstaple &Pilton defeated Braunton Kelseymen at Braunton by 169 runs in Division Three. Barnstaple racked up an impressive 320 for two in their 40 overs. Opener James Tapp scored with 113, before being forced to retire, fellow opener veteran Robin Norton scored an unbeaten 103 and Finley Tapp hit a rapid 66 off 32 balls.

After Barum’s opening bowler Giles Bashford (3-19) helped reduce Braunton to 27 for five, Alex Parsons (28) and Martin Biddle (59) saw the home side bat out their overs and reach 151 for eight.
