ALL but one of the eight quarter-finalists of the Ivor Dewdney Corinthian Cup have been confirmed after a dry June helped get rounds one and two ticked off before the July 2 deadline. 

Whimple will host Cullompton in the third round of the Ivor Dewdney Corinthian Cup this year. They racked up 183 for three off 20 overs at Exeter University’s first team ground on Topsham Road. 

Mike Searle (74) and David Drury (61no) were the key contributors. Ross Treleaven’s two for 24 was the best of the home side’s five bowlers, who all bowled four overs each. 

In reply Jacob Taylor notched 56, but no one else supported him with enough as TSJ (147-8) fell 36 runs short. 

Heathcoat 2nd XI smashed Barton by exactly 100 runs as a real team effort saw them reach 175 for seven after 20 overs. No one scored more than home skipper and wicketkeeper Dan Butler (35), but equally none of the other batters failed to reach double figures .Jamie Peters’ three for 27 was the best of Barton’s bowling.  

Barton did not see a batter reach 20 in reply as former Feniton man Jack Tucker took four for 22 to seal a quarter-final against Uplyme or Sidmouth 2nd XI (being played July 2).  

Ottery St Mary put Bovey 2nd XI into bat in their last 16 tie. Brad Causey (27) and Ryan Jones (22) were the only Bovey batters to pass 20 individually in a total of 121 for seven as Will Harrison (2-12 off four) and Fred Eul-Barker (1-13 off four) squeezed the middle-overs.  

Seamer Rhys Norman only bowled one over (for 13) but then was surprisingly allowed to open the batting. This decision paid off as the former Topsham man hit 31 off 20 balls, which was the highest score and strike-rate for the Otters.  

Bovey tried eight bowlers to no avail as Ottery advanced to a seven-wicket win that set-up a quart-final match against Upottery.
