IVOR DEWDNEY CORINTHIAN CUP ROUND UP JUNE - 2023
IVYBRIDGE became the first team to play twice in the Ivor Dewdney Corinthian Cup this year.
First, mainly thanks to the Johnsons, 196-7 proved too good for Paignton 2nd XI as Arthur Johnson hit 71 off 52 balls and Harvey Johnson 34 off 16.
A run-a-ball 28 from skipper Cam Lemming, and 26 from 18 (to add to his earlier three-fer) from Andy Singh was not enough for the home side. The visitors won by 80 runs as Paignton were 116-8 after their 20 overs.
Next Ivybridge played Plymstock, who managed 173-9 without an individual 50 scored. Thirty-nine off 19 from Matt Whalley was the top Plymstock score as Ivybridge could not quell the tide.
Cebo Tshiki backed up his 3-26 with 35 off 23 balls, but the away side fell to 128 all out with an over to spare.
Plymstock will play Stoke Gabriel in round three.
Ipplepen and Stoke Gabriel were two of many teams benefiting from first-round byes, then met in the second round where Stoke won by 29 runs having scored 192-6 opting to bat first. 
Justin Pringle (35 off 17) and Stoke’s surprisingly slow-scoring (see his C Division East stats from last year) new signing from Uplyme, Abishek Anand (22 off 26) got things going to 47-1, the aggressor going first. Jack Tolley, Michael Meech and Dan Bullock all chipped in from the middle order.
Daman Badial took 3-38 for Ipplepen, but in reply, only Sam Wakeham (38 off 35) passed 30 for the visitors.
The only other match played so far saw some ‘Parrnage’ at Cullompton, but this time Jason striking 86 off 44 at the top, skipper Brendon with just the 19 off 14 (with two sixes of course from number four). Wicketkeeper Dan King got 47 off 33 before Trevor Gwandu finished things off with 26 not out off 13 with three sixes at Cullompton’s small railway side ground.
Young seamer Ollie Knight, up from the thirds into the seconds for Sandford this year, probably should have bowled earlier to be allowed his full quota of four overs. Three for 12 off his only three overs – an impressive final over too late as Cully were already past 200.
In reply, Jon James fell to Chris Mckee (2-24) for his second duck in a week against Cullompton. Then all of Sandford’s batters who got a go (except young Elliot Butterfield) passed 15, most impressively was James Junior-Jack who showed his dad how to do it (albeit in a by-now foregone conclusion) with 29 off 13 balls at the end.
Jason Parr took 2-24 off four and Paul Rendall took 2-4 off two as Sandford finished on 150 for six in their 20 overs.
Cully will face the winners of Topsham St James and Whimple in the third round.
Plymouth 2nd XI conceded to Plympton in the first round.
