Plymouth CS&R batter Nathan Lister – smashed Ipplepen's bowling for 106 off 71 balls<br>credit: Al Stewart

THE Tidball Insurance Cup has got under way fairly erratically across midweek evenings and Sundays in May and June, some teams already having played their second-round fixtures whilst still others struggling to fix a date for their first round. Hopefully the now fortnight without rain means pitches and grounds are set to keep things moving swiftly.

Newly amalgamated Bradninch & Kentisbeare CC 2nd XI conceded to Sidbury in the first round, as did Paignton 3rd XI to Ivybridge 2nd XI. With byes and two matches yet to play we are yet to see a first-round match actually played.

Plymouth Civil Service & Roborough CC are the first team into the semi-finals. Having benefited from a bye in the first round, they won the toss and smashed 201 for one at Ipplepen on June 4..

Nathan Lister struck 106 off 71 balls with 18 fours and one six. Alongside wicketkeeper Jonny Keiller’s 67 off 48 balls, together putting on 195 into the final over. Nuruz Zamal hit his one ball faced for six.

Ipplepen’s reply never got going with no one surpassing 23 as four away bowlers took a wicket each.
