DEVON under-13s enjoyed a largely successful time at the King's College Festival in Taunton.

The boys managed to amass 83 points in winning four of their five games and finished in second place in a pool of six.

They started with a four=wicket win over their Buckinghamshire counterparts - Ben Major and Jake Dunn picking-up three wickets each as they bowled them out for 178. Tobias Alsop's unbeaten 55 steered Devon home in the 38th over.

Devon then saw-off Norfolk by successfully chasing 199 for the loss of only three wickets. Ollie Knight, Alex Tipper and Callum Williams all took two wickets before Guy Watson (61) and Ben Handley (58) broke the back of the chase with Alsop again seeing it home, this time with 44 not out.

It was then onto Somerset where the boys racked up a healthy 287-7 from their 45 overs. There were contributions throughout the order, most notably 48 from Handley and 47 from Dunn. Devon then kept Somerset down to 215-9. There were three wickets for Albie Bradley and two each for Major and Handley in a 72-run win.

Devon made it four from four when they defeated Hampshire by 42 runs. The boys made 176 all out, largely thanks to 63 from Williams, who was well supported by Josh Paget's 32 off 23 balls. The bowlers then produced a fine effort to bowl Hampshire out for 134 – Dunn returning 3-14 off seven overs.

Their final game was against King's College America Academy, in which Devon batted first and made 169-7 from 40 overs. Rory Oram-Evennett provided the highlight with a well-made 55. Unfortunately, the total was knocked off in the 38th over, despite Knight and Williams picking up two wickets apiece. That handed the hosts victory by four wickets and the overall title.
