WITH the Women’s World Cup just around the corner, cricket clubs in Devon are expecting an influx of young ladies interested in playing the game.

The Devon Women Cricket Association are ahead of the game having linked up with Western Storm to run two free coaching sessions for women and girls at clubs in the county.

The sessions will be delivered by Western Storm ambassadors Rachel Priest of New Zealand and Amara Carr of Devon. They are open to any females from any clubs.

The Ipplepen session is on Monday, May 22. The ambassadors move on to Plympton on Tuesday, May 23.

Both sessions run between 6-8pm, after which there will be a barbecue.

Players from local clubs who would like to attend the Ipplepen session should contact Chris Partridge.

Warren Carr is the contact for Plympton.

Warren said a bit of planning at club level will help get the sessions delivered in the best way possible.

“If the main contacts in women’s and girl’s sections could collate their numbers wishing to attend, and submit to the relevant contact, that would allow the coaches to plan accordingly.”
